Fibretrim™ . . .
A Great Source Of Antioxidants
Another great benefit of Fibretrim is that it contains high levels of antioxidants. In fact it contains about the same levels as in Green Tea, and you have seen the popularity of that at the moment.
This surge in popularity has been fuelled by the fact that Green Tea is a great source of antioxidants. Weight loss, prebiotic effects and you can also cut your calories by 27%.
Similar Levels Of Antioxidants As The
Very Popular Green Tea!
Oxidation is the process of your body absorbing oxygen and turning it into energy. This process releases what are known as free radicals. A little like the pollution caused by your car when you drive it.
Free radicals are everywhere. They're in the air we breathe, the food we eat, even sunlight creates them in our body. Usually they are mopped up by antioxidants before they can do much damage, but as we age however, the process becomes less efficient.
Left unchecked, free radicals can travel around our body damaging our cells and DNA. They cause premature aging, heart disease, strokes, macular degeneration, diabetes and even cancer.
Free radicals even cause wrinkles and skin thinning so they can play havoc with how fast you're aging. Antioxidants slow down aging and damage to your body by neutralizing these free radicals.
In fact a recent study conducted by researchers from London found that 5 servings of fruits and vegetables reduce the risk of stroke by 25 percent. And fruit and veg are packed with antioxidants. You need antioxidants in your diet but would you also like some prebiotic health benefits? Now you can.
Have You Heard Of The French Paradox?
Maybe you've heard of something called the French Paradox....
Basically, it refers to the fact that the French have a diet full of fattening foods like cheese, white flour based foods, sugar, foie gras and not forgetting a large helping of artery clogging nicotine.
So you would presume they have a high incidence of heart disease, caused by there clogged arteries wouldn't you?
The truth is surprising though. In fact it's the exact opposite to what you would think. The French actually have a very low rate of heart disease.
And this strange phenomenon is known as the French Paradox.
So how come the French get all the luck?
Scientists have pinpointed two types of antioxidants called resveratrol and anthocyanins, large amounts of which are found in certain red wines. Yerba Maté contains polyphenols similar to those found in green tea.
So they believe it's the fact that the French traditionally consume a lot of wine and this is providing an antioxidant protective effect to their arteries.
Yerba Maté has excellent antioxidant properties:
Ilex Paraguariensis (Yerba Maté) extracts are potent inhibitors of nitrosative stress: A comparative study with green tea and wines using a protein nitration model and mammalian cell cytotoxicity.
(Life Sci. 2005 Jun 3;77(3):345-58. Epub 2005 Feb 9)
“…we decided to conduct a comparative study of three commonly used beverages with the highest polyphenol contents and proven antioxidant properties: Maté (Ilex paraguariensis); green tea (Camelia sinensis) extracts and white and red wines of the main varietals.”
“Taken together, our results indicate that when the herbal preparations studied here are prepared the way they are usually drunk, Maté displays the highest inhibition of protein nitration, and the highest promotion of cell survival, whereas green tea or red wines display significant but lesser effects at the same concentrations.”
A toxicology study with animals in 1998, showed that Guarana is nontoxic at even high dosages of up to 2 grams per kilogram of body weight.
The study also demonstrated Guarana's antioxidant properties saying, "Guarana showed an antioxidant effect because, even at low concentrations (1.2 microg/ml), it inhibited the process of lipid peroxidation."
The researchers first quantified the antioxidants present in different types of Guarana extracts.
They found the following phytochemicals: caffeine, catechin, epicatechin, ent-epicatechin and different procyanidins.
The antioxidant capacity was determined with the diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) reduction test.
The following Guarana extracts were tested: water extract, crude extract (with acetone-water) and semi-purified extract. All extracts showed antioxidant activity.
In vitro-tests with Streptococcus mutans showed that the guarana extracts could be used to prevent bacterial dental plaque.
