Are you overweight?
There are two simple ways to find out whether you are overweight; Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
The BMI measurement tells you how heavy you are for your height, so you will need to know both your weight and height. If you don't have access to scales, your local chemist or GP surgery may have a set that you can use. Height can be easily estimated at home. Just stand straight against a doorframe and ask someone to put a pencil mark level with the top of your head. Then use a tape measure to find out how tall you are. Once you know your height and weight, use the chart below to find out which band applies to you.

If your BMI falls within the 'Overweight' band, you are most likely to benefit from the Zotrim Way. If it falls within the 'Very' or 'Seriously Overweight' band, you may still benefit from Zotrim but it is advisable to first discuss the idea with your GP. This is because people with a BMI in these bands may have extra health risks associated with their weight.
If your BMI falls within the 'Normal Weight' band, you can feel assured that your weight is normal for your height. However, the Zotrim Way can still be used if you need to make small adjustments to your weight, for example, after family celebrations or in the weeks before a special event. Finally, if your BMI falls within the 'Underweight' band, it is very unlikely that you need to lose weight.
Waist circumference
This is another method for finding out whether you may be overweight. Using a tape measure, simply measure your waist and compare the result with the figures given below:
For men, a waist circumference over 37 inches (94 cm) indicates that you are likely to be overweight. For women, a waist circumference over 32 inches (80 cm) indicates that you are likely to be overweight.
Now that you have discovered whether you can benefit from the Zotrim Way, it's time to find out the advantages of weight loss.
